Private Members' Business

At 11:00 a.m., pursuant to Standing Order 30(6), the House proceeded to the consideration of Private Members' Business.

The Order was read for the second reading and reference to the Standing Committee on Transport of Bill C-314, An Act to amend the Canada Transportation Act.

Mr. Casson (Lethbridge) , seconded by Mr. Anderson (Cypress Hills—Grasslands) , moved, — That the Bill be now read a second time and referred to the Standing Committee on Transport.

Debate arose thereon.

Pursuant to Standing Order 93, the Order was dropped to the bottom of the order of precedence on the Order Paper.

Business of Supply

The Order was read for the consideration of the Business of Supply.

Mr. Bachand (Saint-Jean) , seconded by Mr. Marceau (Charlesbourg—Jacques-Cartier) , moved, — That this House consider the sending of troops to Iraq by the government only after the United Nations Security Council has passed a resolution explicitly authorizing a military intervention in Iraq.

Debate arose thereon.

Pursuant to Standing Orders 68(2) and 69(1), on motion of Mr. Sorenson (Crowfoot) , seconded by Mr. Hill (Prince George—Peace River) , Bill C-351, An Act to amend the Income Tax Act (exemptions for volunteers), was introduced, read the first time, ordered to be printed and ordered for a second reading at the next sitting of the House.
