The Subcommittee on the Status of Persons with Disabilities of the Standing Committee on Human Resources Development and the Status of Persons with Disabilities met at 9:12 a.m. this day, in Room 701, La Promenade Building, the Chair, Carolyn Bennett, presiding.
Members of the Sub-Committee present: Carolyn Bennett, Reed Elley, Wendy Lill, Tony Tirabassi.
Acting Member present: Brian Masse for Wendy Lill.
In attendance: From the Parliamentary Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Bill Young, researcher.
Witnesses: From the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce: Gretchen Van Riesen, Vice-President, Pension and Benefits; Dr. David Brown, Medical Director; Lynne Gutteridge, Manager, Health Services (by videoconference from Toronto, Ontario). As Individual: Dr. Michael Schweigert. From the Canadian Labour Congress: Bob Baldwin, National Director, Social and Economic Policy; Marie Clarke Walker, Executive Vice-President. From the Canadian Council for the Rights of Injured Workers: Maria York, President; Stéphane Paquin. From the New Brunswick Premiers' Council on the Status of Disabled Persons: Randy Dickinson, Executive Director.
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Subcommittee resumed its study of Canada Pension Plan Disability. (See Minutes of Proceedings of Wednesday November 20, 2002, Meeting no. 1).
Gretchen Van Riesen, Lynne Gutteridge and Dr. David Brown made statements and answered questions.
Dr. Michael Schweigert made a statement.
At 10:02 a.m., the sitting was suspended.
At 10:06 a.m., the sitting resumed.
Marie Clarke Walker, Bob Baldwin, Maria York and Randy Dickinson made statements and, with Dr. Michael Schweigert, answered questions.
At 11:11 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
