MINUTES OF PROCEEDINGS

Meeting No. 53

Friday, June 13, 2003

The Standing Committee on Government Operations and Estimates met in camera at 9:20 a.m. this day, in Room 362, East Block, the Chair, Reg Alcock, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Reg Alcock, Roy Cullen, Raymonde Folco, Paul Forseth, Robert Lanctôt, Pat Martin, Judy Sgro, Paul Szabo and Tony Tirabassi.

Acting Members present: Alex Shepherd for Steve Mahoney; Clifford Lincoln for Tony Valeri; Murray Calder for Judy Sgro; Shawn Murphy for Tony Tirabasi; Gerald Keddy for Scott Brison.

Witness: From the Office of the Privacy Commissioner: George Radwanski, Privacy Commissioner.

In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Jack Stilborn, Analyste.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), and the motion adopted by the Committee on Tuesday, June 3, 2003, consideration of matters relating to the operation of the Office of the Privacy Commissioner.

The Committee agreed to proceed in camera.

The Witness accompanied by legal council, made an opening statement and answered questions.

The Committee proceeded to consider its draft report.

At 10:45, Judy Sgro took the Chair.

At 10:55, the Chair took the Chair.

It was agreed, -- That the draft report be adopted.

It was agreed, -- That the report be entitled the Fourth Report of the Standing Committee on Government Operations and Estimates.

It was agreed, -- That the Chair and researchers be authorized to make such grammatical and editorial changes as may be necessary without changing the substance of the report.

ORDERED – That the Chair present the Report to the House as the Fourth Report of the Committee.

At 11:30 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
