The Standing Committee on Citizenship and Immigration met at 8:09 a.m. this day, in Vancouver at the Delta Pinnacle Hotel in Pinnacle III Ballroom, the Chair, Joe Fontana, presiding.

Members of the Committee present:  Joe Fontana, David Price, Lynne Yelich.

Acting Member present:  Louis Plamondon for Antoine Dubé.

Other Members present:  Sophia Leung, Andrew Telegdi.

In attendance:  From the Research Branch of the Library of Parliament:  Benjamin Dolin, Researcher.

Panel I

Pursuant to its Order of Reference of Friday, November 8, 2002, the Committee resumed debate on Clause 2, consideration of Bill C-18, An Act respecting Canadian citizenship (see Minutes of Proceedings, Thursday, November 21, 2002, Meeting No. 6).

The witnesses made statements and answered questions.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee resumed its study on Settlement and Integration Programs (see Minutes of Proceedings, Monday, February 10, 2003, Meeting No. 20).

Richard Kurland answered a question.

Pursuant to its Order of Reference of Friday, November 8, 2002, the Committee resumed debate on Clause 2, consideration of Bill C-18, An Act respecting Canadian citizenship (see Minutes of Proceedings, Thursday, November 21, 2002, Meeting No. 6).

The witnesses resumed answering questions.

At 9:40 a.m. the sitting was suspended.

At 10:04 a.m. the sitting resumed.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee resumed its study on a National Identity Card (see Minutes of Proceedings, Thursday, February 6, 2003, Meeting No. 17).
