The Standing Committee on Citizenship and Immigration met at 11:09 a.m. this day, in Room 208, West Block, the Vice-Chair, Jerry Pickard, presiding.
Members of the Committee present: Diane Ablonczy, Madeleine Dalphond-Guiral, Jerry Pickard, Judy Wasylycia-Leis, Lynne Yelich.
Acting Members present: Sarkis Assadourian for Mark Assad, Andrew Telegdi for John Godfrey, John Bryden for David Price, John Reynolds for Grant McNally.
In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Benjamin Dolin; Researcher.
Witnesses: As Individual: Magali Castro-Gyr; Don Chapman. From the Canadian Jewish Congress: Jack Silverstone, Executive Vice-President and General Counsel; Eric Vernon, Director of Government Relations.
Pursuant to its Order of Reference of Friday, November 8, 2002, the
Committee resumed debate on Claude 2 consideration of Bill C-18, An Act
respecting Canadian citizenship (See Minutes of Proceedings, Thursday,
November 21, 2002, Meeting No. 6).
The witnesses made opening statements and answered questions.
At 11:40 sitting was suspended due to technical problems.
At 11:46 the Committee resumed sitting in Room 209, West Block.
The witnesses continued answering questions.
Jack Silverstone and Eric Vernon made opening statements and answered questions.
At 12:55 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
