The Standing Committee on Agriculture and Agri-Food met in camera at 3:35 p.m. this day, in Room 371 West Block, the Chair, Paul Steckle, presiding.
Members of the Committee present: Gérard Binet, Claude Duplain, Larry McCormick, Louis Plamondon, Gerry Ritz, Paul Steckle and Rose-Marie Ur.
Acting Members present: Stan Dromisky for John Maloney, Nancy Karetak-Lindell for Bob Speller and John O'Reilly for Rick Laliberte.
In attendance: Library of Parliament: Jean-Denis Fréchette, Principal.
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee resumed consideration of its draft report on the BSE situation in Canada.
It was agreed, — That the draft report, as amended, be adopted.
It was agreed, — That the report be entitled: The Investigation and the Government Response Following the Discovery of a Single Case of Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy.
It was agreed, — That the Chair, Clerk and researchers be authorized to make such grammatical and editorial changes as may be necessary without changing the substance of the report.
It was agreed, — That the Chair present the report to the House as the 3rd Report of the Committee.
It was agreed, — That, pursuant to Standing Order 109, the Committee request that the Government table a comprehensive response to the report.
At 3:59 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
