Tuesday, November 20, 2001
The Sub-Committee on the Status of Persons with Disabilities of the Standing Committee on Human Resources Development and the Status of Persons with Disabilities met at 3:33 p.m. this day, in Room 371, West Block, the Chair, Carolyn Bennett, presiding.
Members of the Sub-Committee present: Carolyn Bennett, Madeleine Dalphond-Guiral, Wendy Lill and Tony Tirabassi.
In attendance: From the Parliamentary Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Bill Young, Research Officer.
Witnesses: From the Council of Canadians with Disabilities: Laurie Beachell, National Co-ordinator. From the Advocacy Resouce Centre for the Handicaped: Harry Beatty. From the Canadian Association for Community Living: Connie Laurin-Bowie, Director, Policy and Programs; Audrey Cole, Former Board Member, Family Member. From the Canadian National Institute for the Blind: Vangelis Nikias, National Director, Government Relations and International Liaison; Myriam Girard, Researcher/Writer, Government Relations and International Liaison.
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(3)(c) Study of the matters relating to the proposing, promoting, monitoring and assessing of initiatives aimed at the integration and equality of disabled persons in all sectors of Canadian Society: Round table on the Disability Tax Credit.
Laurie Beachell, Harry Beatty, Vangelis Nikias, Myriam Girard, Audrey Cole and Connie Laurin-Bowie made opening statements and, with the other participants proceeded to a round table discussion.
At 6:01 p.m., the Sub-Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
