Meeting No. 14
Thursday, April 25, 2002
The
Sub-Committee on Committee Budgets of the Liaison Committee met in camera
at 1:05 p.m. this day, in Room 112-N, Centre Block, the Chair, Wayne Easter,
presiding.
Members of the
Sub-Committee present:
Mauril Bélanger, Wayne Easter, Walt Lastewka, Clifford Lincoln, Judi Longfield.
Associate Member present: Michel Guimond.
Other Members present: Andy Scott, Bob Wood.
In attendance: From the Committee Directorate: Diane Deschamps, Clerk of the
Sub-Committee on Veterans Affairs of the Standing Committee on National Defence
and Veterans Affairs; Jean-François Pagé, Clerk of the Standing Committee on
Justice and Human Rights. From
the Financial and Human Resources Services Directorate: Linda Biard, Manager, Financial
Planning, Policy and Financial Planning; Nicholas Pappas, Senior Financial
Officer.
Pursuant to the Standing
Order 107(1), the Sub-Committee proceeded to the consideration of budget
submissions.
It was agreed, - That the
operational budgets for studies that have been projected and are scheduled to
commence before the end of June be approved as presented, to a maximum of
$40,000.
It was agreed, - That an
additional budget not exceeding $15,000 be provided for major studies initiated
during the last fiscal year and being completed in this fiscal year.
It was agreed, - That the
Clerk be authorized to make minor adjustments to approved budgets provided that
he reports them from time to time.
It was agreed, - That the
Standing Committee on Justice and Human Rights be granted a travel budget of
$14,800 to travel to Toronto, on May 15, 2002, to visit a court.
It was agreed, - That the
Sub-Committee on Veterans Affairs of the Standing Committee on National Defence
and Veterans Affairs be granted a travel budget of $76,800 to travel to
Vancouver, Calgary, Saskatoon, Winnipeg, from May 26 to May 31, 2002, for a
fact finding Mission on Long-Term Care for Veterans.
It was agreed, - That the
Standing Committee on Public Account be granted a travel budget of $17,800 to
travel to St. John’s, N.F., from August 24 to August 27, 2002, to attend the
Annual Conference of the Canadian Council of Public Accounts Committees.
At 2:04 p.m., the Committee
adjourned to the call of the Chair.
