The Standing Committee on Public Accounts met in a televised session at 3:31 p.m. this day, in Room 237-C, Centre Block.

Members of the Committee present: John Bryden, Odina Desrochers, John Finlay, Mac Harb, Marlene Jennings, Sophia Leung, Pat Martin, Philip Mayfield, Shawn Murphy and John Williams.

Acting Members present: Lynn Myers for Robert Bertrand; Beth Phinney for Gerry Byrne; Dennis Mills for Sophia Leung; Monique Guay for Gilles-A. Perron.

From the Parliamentary Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Brian O'Neal and Jean Dupuis, Research Officers.

Witnesses: From the Office of the Auditor General of Canada: Sheila Fraser, Auditor General of Canada; John Wiersema, Assistant Auditor General, Audit Operations Branch. From the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat: Richard J. Neville, Deputy Comptroller General; John Morgan, Executive Director, Financial Management and Accounting Policy Directorate.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(3)(e), a Briefing Session was held on the Public Accounts of Canada 2001.

Sheila Fraser from the Office of the Auditor General of Canada made a statement.

Richard J. Neville from the Treasury Board Secretariat of Canada made a statement.

At 4:04 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
