The Standing Committee on Industry, Science and Technology met at 3:38 p.m. this day, in Room 308, West Block, the Chair, Susan Whelan, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Larry Bagnell, Stéphane Bergeron, Claude Drouin, Walt Lastewka, Dan McTeague, Charlie Penson, Brent St. Denis, Joseph Volpe and Susan Whelan.

Other Member present: Tony Iano.

In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Dan Shaw and Lalita Acharya, Research Officers.

Witnesses: From the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce: Carol J. Gray, Executive Vice-President, Small Business Banking; Robert Paterson, Senior Vice-President, Small business banking; Benjamin Tal, Senior Economist, Risk Management. From the Royal Bank of Canada: Jim J. E. Hamilton, Vice-President, Small Business and Agriculture; Russ Cook, Vice-President, Knowledge Based Market; Anne Lamont, Vice-President, Government Affairs; Carlos Leitao, Senior Economist, Royal Bank Financial Group.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), consideration of Small and Medium-Sized Enterprise Bank Lending.

Carol Gray, Benjamin Tal and Robert Paterson each made an opening statement and answered questions.

Jim J.E. Hamilton made an opening statement and, with the other witnesses answered questions.

At 5:50 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
