The Standing Committee on Human Resources Development and the Status of Persons with Disabilities met in a televised session at 12:07 p.m. this day, in Room 253-D, Centre Block, the Chair, Judi Longfield, presiding.

Member(s) of the Committee present: Raymonde Folco, Monique Guay, Judi Longfield, Anita Neville, Monte Solberg, Larry Spencer, Diane St-Jacques and Alan Tonks.

Acting Member(s) present: Peter Goldring for Reed Elley and Pat Martin for Libby Davies.

In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Kevin Kerr and Bill Young, Research Officers.

Appearing: From the House of Commons: Claudette Bradshaw, Minister of Labour.

Witness(es): From the Department of Human Resources Development: Warren Edmondson, Assistant Deputy Minister, Labour; Susan Scotti, Assistant Deputy Minister, National Secretariat on Homeless; Guy Tremblay, Director General, Financial Services.

Pursuant to the Standing Order 81(4)(b), the Committee proceeded to the consideration of the Main Estimates for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2003, Votes 1, 5, 10, 15 and 20 under HUMAN RESOURCES DEVELOPMENT referred to the Committee on Thursday, February 28th, 2002.

The Chair called Votes 1, 5, 10, 15 and 20.

Hon. Claudette Bradshaw made a statement and answered questions.

At 1:38 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
