Tuesday, May 15, 2001
The Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Trade met at 9:05 a.m. this day, in Room 308, West Block, the Chair, Bill Graham, presiding.
Members of the Committee present: Colleen Beaumier, Rick Casson, Bill Graham, John Harvard, Stan Keyes, Francine Lalonde, Diane Marleau, Pat O'Brien, Denis Paradis, Bernard Patry.
In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: David Johansen.
Witnesses: From The Council of Canadians: Jamie Dunn, Water Campaigner; Steven Staples, Campaign Coordinator. From the Centre for Trade Policy and Law: Laura Ritchie Dawson, Research Associate. As Individual: Jon Johnson, Partner, Goodmans LL.P., Toronto.
Pursuant to its Order of Reference of Tuesday, May 8, 2001, the Committee resumed consideration of Bill C-6, An Act to amend the International Boundary Waters Treaty Act (See Minutes of Proceedings, Thursday, May 10, 2001, Meeting No. 19).
Laura Ritchie Dawson, Jamie Dunn and Jon Johnson each made a statement and, with Stephen Staples, answered questions.
On motion of Stan Keyes - It was agreed - That the Committee approve a supplementary budget for its operating expenditures in the amount of $38,800.
It was agreed - That the Committee meet with a delegation headed by Mr. Gennady Nikolaevitch Seleznev, Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation on Monday, May 28, between 4:30 and 6:00 p.m.
At 11:04 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
