The Standing Committee on Agriculture and Agri-Food met at 9:05 a.m. this day, in Room 371, West Block, the Chair, Charles Hubbard, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: David L. Anderson, Rick Borotsik, Murray Calder, Mark Eyking, Marcel Gagnon, Howard Hilstrom, Charles Hubbard, Larry McCormick, Dick Proctor, Bob Speller, Suzanne Tremblay and Rose-Marie Ur.

In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Frédéric Forge and Jean-Denis Fréchette, Research Officers.

Witnesses: From the Canadian Federation of Agriculture: Bob Friesen, President; Nicole Howe, Policy Analyst.  From the CropLife Canada: Charles D. Milnes, Vice-President, Government Affairs; Peter MacLeod, Executive Director, Crop Protection Chemistry. From the Canadian Horticultural Council: Anne Fowlie, Executive Vice-President.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), Study on the Registration of Pesticides and the Competitiveness of Canadian Farmers.

Bob Friesen, Charles Milnes, Peter MacLeod and Anne Fowlie, made opening statements and answered questions.

At 10:55 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
