MINUTES OF PROCEEDINGS

THURSDAY, DECEMBER 2, 1999
(Meeting No. 35)

The Standing Committee on Transport met in camera at 9:07 a.m. this day, in Room 307, West Block, the Chair, Stan Keyes, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Gérard Asselin, Murray Calder, Bill Casey, Joe Comuzzi, Bev Desjarlais, Stan Dromisky, Claude Drouin, Joe Fontana, Michel Guimond, Charles Hubbard, Stan Keyes, Val Meredith, Lou Sekora.

In attendance: From the Parliamentary Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: John Christopher; June Dewetering, Researchers.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee resumed its study on the restructuring of the airline industry in Canada.

By unanimous consent, it was agreed to distribute a unilingual document to all members.

Notwithstanding the motion adopted on November 30, 1999, it was agreed, - That pursuant to Standing Order 108(1)(a) the Committee authorize the printing of the dissenting or supplementary opinions by Committee members as an appendix to this report immediately after the signature of the Chair, that the dissenting or supplementary opinions be limited to not more than three pages and that they be sent to the clerk of the Committee electronically, in a bilingual format, on/or before Monday, December 6, 1999 at 6:00 p.m.

The question was put on the amended motion and it was agreed to.

It was agreed, - That the draft Report, as amended, be adopted as the Committee's First Report to the House and that the chairperson be instructed to present it to the House.

It was agreed, - That, notwithstanding Standing Order 109, the Committee request that the government table a comprehensive response to the Report within forty-five (45) days.

It was agreed, - That the Committee print 1,200 copies of its First Report in tumble bilingual format with a distinctive cover.

It was agreed, - That the researchers and clerk be authorized to make such typographical and editorial changes as may be necessary without changing the substance of the report.

At 12:10 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
