Wednesday, April 5, 2000
The Sub-Committee on Private Members' Business of the Standing Committee on Procedure and House Affairs met at 3:40 p.m. this day, in Room 307, West Block, the Chair, Larry McCormick, presiding.
Members of the Sub-Committee present: Madeleine Dalphond-Guiral, André Harvey, Joe Jordan and Larry McCormick.
Acting Members present: Dave Chatters for Deborah Grey and Yvon Godin for Bill Blaikie.
In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: James Robertson, Research Officer.
Witnesses: From the House of Commons: Brenda Chamberlain, Libby Davies, Hélène Alarie, Peter Goldring, Paul Szabo, Garry Breitkreuz, Greg Thompson, Judy Wasylycia-Leis, John Nunziata, John Reynolds, Lorne Nystrom, Peter Mancini and Wendy Lill.
Pursuant to the Order of Reference from the Standing Committee on Procedure and House Affairs adopted on Tuesday, October 19, 1999, the Sub-Committee proceeded to select votable items from bills and motions whose order of precedence has been established on Thursday, March 23, 2000.
The witnesses made statements and answered questions.
At 4:10 p.m., the sitting was suspended.
At 4:12 p.m., the sitting resumed and the Sub-Committee proceeded with the consideration of a draft letter to all Members concerning Standing Order 87(6).
At 4:20 p.m., the witnesses continued to make statements and answered questions.
At 5:33 p.m., the sitting resumed "In Camera" to select votable items and to approve a letter to all Members of the House regarding Standing Order 87(6).
At 6:30 p.m., the Sub-Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
