Meeting No. 2

Wednesday, May 17, 2000

The Sub-Committee on Improved Financial Reporting to Parliament of the Standing Committee on Procedure and House Affairs met at 3:40 p.m. this day, in Room 536, Wellington Building, the Chair, Paul Szabo, presiding.

Members of the Sub-Committee present: Yvon Godin, Tony Ianno, Benoît Sauvageau, Paul Szabo and John Williams.

In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Jean Dupuis, Research Officer.

Witnesses: From the Office of the Auditor General of Canada: Maria Barrados, Assistant Auditor General, Audit Operations Branch; John Mayne, Principal, Audit Operations Branch; John Hodgins, Principal, Audit Operations. From the House of Commons: Robert Marleau, Clerk of the House; William Corbett, Deputy Clerk.

Pursuant to the Order adopted by the Standing Committee on Procedure and House Affairs on Thursday, May 4, 2000, the Sub-Committee proceeded to its consideration of measures and procedures to improve financial reporting to Parliament.

Maria Barrados made an opening statement and, with the other witnesses, answered questions.

At 4:30 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 4:32 p.m., the sitting resumed.

Robert Marleau made an opening statement and, with William Corbett, answered questions.

At 5:32 p.m., the Sub-Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
