The Standing Committee of Public Accounts met at 3:33 p.m. this day, in Room 269, West Block, the Vice-Chair, John Richardson, presiding.
Members of the Committee present: Marlene Jennings, Steve Mahoney,, Beth Phinney, John Richardson, Benoît Sauvageau, Alex Shepherd.
Acting Members present: Ken Epp for Philip Mayfield and Paul Crête for Gilles-A. Perron.
In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Jean Dupuis; Brian O'Neal, Research Officers.
Witnesses: From the Office of the Auditor General of Canada: L. Denis Desautels, Auditor General of Canada; Ron Thompson, Assistant Auditor General; John Hodgins, Principal, Audit Operations. From the Treasury Board of Canada - Secretariat: J. Colin Potts, Deputy Comptroller General, Comptrollership Branch; Richard Neville, Assistant Secretary and Assistant Comptroller General, Financial Management Policy Sector and Expenditure Analysis and Operations Sector; John Morgan, Director, Government Accounting Policy, Comptrollership Branch.
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(3)(e), consideration of the Public Accounts of Canada 1998-1999.
Mr. Desautels and Mr. Potts made opening statements and with the other witnesses, answered questions.
At 5:20 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
