The Standing Committee on Public Accounts met at 3:40 p.m. this day, in Room 269, West Block, the Vice-Chair, John Richardson, presiding.
Members of the Committee present: Hec Clouthier, John Finlay, Mac Harb, Marlene Jennings, Steve Mahoney, Beth Phinney and John Richardson.
Acting Members present: Jim Abbott for Philip Mayfield; Pierrette Venne for Benoît Sauvageau.
In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Lyne Casavant, Research Officer.
Witnesses: From the Office of the Auditor General of Canada: Maria Barrados, Assistant Auditor General. From the RCMP: Curt Allen, Deputy Commissioner, National Police Services and Technical Infrastructure; Dr. Brian Richardson, Assistant Commissioner, Forensic Laboratory Services; Robert Goulet, Assistant Commissioner, Information and Identification Services.
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(3)(e), the Committee proceeded to the consideration of Chapter 7 (Royal Canadian Mounted Police -- Services for Canada's Law Enforcement Community) of the April 2000 Report of the Auditor General of Canada.
Maria Barrados and Curt Allen made opening statements and, with the other witnesses, answered questions.
At 5:06 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
