Meeting No. 22

Tuesday, May 2, 2000

The Standing Committee on Public Accounts met at 3:37 p.m. this day, in Room 209, West Block, the Chair, John Williams, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Mac Harb, Steve Mahoney, Philip Mayfield, Beth Phinney, John Richardson, Benoît Sauvageau, Judy Sgro, Alex Shepherd and John Williams.

In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Jean Dupuis and Brian O'Neal, Research Officers.

Witnesses: From the Office of the Auditor General of Canada: L. Denis Desautels, Auditor General of Canada; Sheila Fraser, Deputy Auditor General, Audit Operations; Michael McLaughlin, Deputy Auditor General, Corporate Services.

The Committee proceeded to the consideration of the Main Estimates 2000-01: Votes 20 and 25 under FINANCE (Office of the Auditor General) referred to the Committee on Tuesday, February 29, 2000.

The witnesses made opening statements and answered questions.

Votes 20 and 25 under FINANCE carried.

It was ordered, - That the Chair report Votes 20 and 25 under FINANCE to the House.

At 4:54 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
