Meeting No. 40
Thursday, October 5, 2000
The Standing Committee on Natural Resources and Government Operations met at 3:36 p.m. this day, in Room 308, West Block.
Members of the Committee present: Serge Cardin, Ghislain Lebel, Werner Schmidt, Alex Shepherd, Diane St-Jacques, Paul Szabo and Joseph Volpe.
Acting Members present: Mark Assad for Guy St-Julien and Robert Bertrand for Julian Reed.
In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Jean-Luc Bourdages; research officer.
Pursuant to Standing Orders 106(1) and 106(2), Election of Chair and Vice-Chairs.
The Clerk of the Committee presided over the election of the Chair.
On motion of Robert Bertrand and seconded by Werner Schmidt, it was agreed, -- That, Joseph Volpe do take the Chair as Chair of the Committee.
Joseph Volpe took the Chair.
On motion of Mark Assad and seconded by Robert Bertrand, it was agreed, -- That Julian Reed be elected Vice-Chair of the Committee in absentia.
On motion of Alex Shepherd and seconded by Paul Szabo, it was agreed, -- That Werner Schmidt be elected Vice-Chair of the Committee.
At 3:42 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
