In accordance with its Order of Reference of Tuesday, March 21, 2000, your Committee has considered the motion, as amended, of Mr. MacKay (Pictou - Antigonish - Guysborough), seconded by Mr. Bernier (Tobique - Mactaquac), - That, in the opinion of this House, the Criminal Code or other appropriate federal statutes should be amended, after consideration by the Standing Committee on Justice and Human Rights, in accordance with Recommendation 73 of the Province of Nova Scotia's Public Inquiry into the Westray disaster, specifically with the goal of ensuring that corporate executives and directors are held properly accountable for workplace safety. |
Conformément à son Ordre de renvoi du mardi 21 mars 2000, votre Comité a étudié la motion, telle que modifiée, de M. MacKay (Pictou - Antigonish - Guysborough), appuyé par M. Bernier (Tobique - Mactaquac), - Que, de l'avis de la Chambre, le Code criminel ou d'autres lois fédérales pertinentes devraient être modifiés, suite à une étude devant le Comité permanent de la justice et des droits de la personne, conformément à la recommandation no 73 de la Commission d'enquête de la province de la Nouvelle- Écosse sur la tragédie de la mine Westray, de sorte que les cadres d'entreprise et administrateurs soient tenus responsables de la sécurité au travail. |

Your Committee has agreed on Tuesday, June 6, 2000, to recommend that the Minister of Justice and the Department of Justice bring forward proposed legislation in accordance with the said motion and the principles underlying Bill C-259 for consideration by the Standing Committee on Justice and Human Rights. |
Votre comité a convenu le mardi 6 juin 2000, de recommander à la Ministre de la justice et au Ministère de la justice de présenter un projet de loi conformément à ladite motion et aux principes énoncés dans le projet de loi C-259, pour étude par le comité permanent de la justice et des droits de la personne. |
