MINUTES OF PROCEEDINGS

Meeting No. 26

Wednesday, April 12, 2000

The Standing Committee on Human Resources Development and the Status of Persons with Disabilities met in camera at 3:24 p.m. this day, in Room 307, West Block, the Chair, Peter Adams, presiding.

Member(s) of the Committee present: Diane Ablonczy, Peter Adams, Bonnie Brown, Paul Crête, Libby Davies, Jean Dubé, Raymonde Folco, John Godfrey, Judi Longfield, Larry McCormick, Rey Pagtakhan, Judy Sgro and Maurice Vellacott.

In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Kevin Kerr, Julie Mackenzie and Bill Young, Research Officers.

The Committee proceeded to consider its draft report.

It was agreed, -- That the interim report on HRDC Grants and Contributions be adopted as the Second Report of the Standing Committee on Human Resources Development and the Status of Persons with Disabilities.

It was agreed, -- That the Clerk be authorized to make such editorial and typographical changes as necessary without changing the substance of the Report.

It was agreed, -- That the Chair be authorised to table the Report in the House Thursday, April 13, 2000.

It was agreed, -- That the Committee print 550 copies of its Second Report in a tumble bilingual format.

It was agreed, -- That pursuant to Standing Order 108 (1) (a), the Committee authorize the printing of the dissenting opinions of the Canadian Alliance, Bloc Québécois, New Democratic Party and the Progressive Conservative Party as an appendix to this report immediately after the signature of the Chair; that the dissenting opinion(s) be limited to not more than 2 pages; (font = 12; line spacing = 1.5) and that the dissenting opinions be delivered in both official languages to the Clerk of the Committee not later than 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 13, 2000.

At 6:24 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
