Thursday, March 16, 2000

The Standing Committee on Human Resources Development and the Status of Persons with Disabilities met in a televised session at 11:07 a.m. this day, in Room 253-D, Centre Block, the Chair, Peter Adams, presiding.

Member(s) of the Committee present: Diane Ablonczy, Peter Adams, Bonnie Brown, Paul Crête, Jean Dubé, Raymonde Folco, Christiane Gagnon, Judi Longfield, Larry McCormick, Rey Pagtakhan, Judy Sgro, Maurice Vellacott and Bryon Wilfert.

Acting Member(s) present: Yvon Godin for Libby Davies.

In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Kevin Kerr and Bill Young, Research Officers.

Witness(es): From the Department of Human Resources Development Canada: James K. Martin, Director General, Internal Audit Bureau; Alan Winberg, Assistant Deputy Minister, Financial and Administrative Services.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108 (2), study of HRDC Grants and Contributions.

The witnesses made opening statements and answered questions.

At 1:10 p.m., the Committee proceeded to discuss its future business.

It was agreed, that the Chair schedule witnesses in accordance with the list of proposed meetings circulated to Committee members.

At 1:20 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
