The Standing Committee on Finance met at 3:34 p.m. this day, in Room 308, West Block, the Chair, Maurizio Bevilacqua, presiding.
Members of the Committee present: Maurizio Bevilacqua, Nick Discepola, Roger Gallaway, Albina Guarnieri, The Hon. Lorne Nystrom, Gary Pillitteri, Karen Redman and Paul Szabo.
Acting Member present: Paul Forseth for Richard Harris.
In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Jean Soucy, Researcher.
Witnesses: From the Association of Canadian Airport Duty Free Operators: Derrick Barnett, President, Chief Financial Officer, Nuance Global Traders North America; Daniel Boller, S. Air Relations, Zurich, Switzerland. From the Caledon Institute: Ken Battle, President. From the National Association of Friendship Centres: Denis Francis, President; Marc Maracle, Executive Director. In accordance with its mandate under Standing Order 83.1, the Committee resumed its Pre-Budget Consultations. (See Minutes of Proceedings, Tuesday, November 2, 1999, Meeting No. 2).
Derrick Barnett, Ken Battle, Denis Francis, Claude Demers, Clive Doucet, and Diane Holmes made statements and, with the other participants in the roundtable, answered questions.
At 5:08 p.m., Paul Szabo took the Chair.
At 5:13 p.m., the Chair took the Chair.
At 5:21 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
