Meeting No. 38

Thursday, April 6, 2000

The Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Trade met in camera at 9:56 a.m. this day, in Room 701, La Promenade Building, the Chair, Bill Graham, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Sarkis Assadourian, Jean Augustine, Bill Graham, Francine Lalonde, Diane Marleau, Denis Paradis, Bernard Patry, Svend Robinson, Yves Rocheleau.

Acting Member present: Pauline Picard for Maud Debien.

From the Parliamentary Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: James Lee, Research Officer.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee continued to examine of the sanctions against Iraq. (See Minutes of Proceedings, Tuesday, March 21, 2000, Meeting No. 29.)

At 10:34 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 11:24 a.m., the sitting resumed.

It was agreed, --That the draft Resolution (as amended) be adopted as the Committee's Fifth Report to the House and that the Chairman be instructed to present it to the House.

It was agreed, --That the Chairman be authorized to make such typographical and editorial changes as may be necessary without changing the substance of the draft report.

It was agreed, --That the examination of a draft resolution on the conflict and post-conflict periods in Kosovo be postponed to a later date and that a witness from National Defence be invited to appear in the context of this study.

At 12:05 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
