The Standing Committee on Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development met at 1:22 p.m. this day, in Victoria , BC, The Empress Hotel, Crystal Room, the Chair, Sue Barnes, presiding.
Members of the Committee present: Sue Barnes, Ray Bonin, John Finlay, Ghislain Fournier, Jim Gouk, Louise Hardy, David Iftody, Nancy Karetak-Lindell, Gerald Keddy, John O'Reilly, Mike Scott.
Acting Members present: Gary Lunn for Derrek Konrad.
In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Mary Hurley; Tonina Simeone, Research Officers. From the House of Commons Committees and Legislative Services Directorate: Richard Dupuis, Legislative Clerk.
Witnesses: From the Government of British Columbia: The Honourable Dale Lovick, Minister of Aboriginal Affairs, Ministry of Aboriginal Affairs; Patrick O'Rourke, Assistant Deputy Minister. From the British Columbia Treaty Commission: Miles Richardson, Chief Commissioner; Peter Lusztig, Commissioner. Pursuant to its Order of Reference of Monday, November 1st, 1999, the Committee resumed consideration of Bill C-9, An Act to give effect to the Nisga'a Final Agreement (See Minutes of Proceedings, Wednesday, November 3, 1999, Meeting No. 3).
The Committee resumed consideration of Clause 2.
The Honourable Dale Lovick made a statement and answered questions.
Miles Richardson made a statement and answered questions.
Gordon Gibson and Gordon Campbell made statements and answered questions.
At 3:58 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
