Introduction of Private Members' Bills

Pursuant to Standing Orders 68(2) and 69(1), on motion of Mr. Ianno (Trinity -- Spadina), seconded by Ms. Bulte (Parkdale -- High Park), Bill C-368, An Act to amend the Criminal Code and the Department of Health Act (security of the child), was introduced, read the first time, ordered to be printed and ordered for a second reading at the next sitting of the House.

Pursuant to Standing Orders 68(2) and 69(1), on motion of Mr. Wilfert (Oak Ridges), seconded by Mr. Saada (Brossard -- La Prairie), Bill C-369, An Act to amend the Holidays Act (Sir Wilfrid Laurier Day) and to make consequential amendments to other Acts, was introduced, read the first time, ordered to be printed and ordered for a second reading at the next sitting of the House.

GOVERNMENT ORDERS

The Order was read for the consideration at report stage of Bill C-8, An Act respecting an accord between the Governments of Canada and the Yukon Territory relating to the administration and control of and legislative jurisdiction in respect of oil and gas, as reported by the Standing Committee on Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development without amendment.

Mr. Scott (Solicitor General of Canada) for Mrs. Stewart (Minister of Indian Affairs and Northern Development), seconded by Mr. Chan (Secretary of State (Asia-Pacific)), moved, -- That the Bill be concurred in at report stage.

The question was put on the motion and it was agreed to.

Accordingly, the Bill was concurred in at report stage.

Pursuant to Standing Order 76.1(11), Mr. Scott (Solicitor General of Canada) for Mrs. Stewart (Minister of Indian Affairs and Northern Development), seconded by Mr. Chan (Secretary of State (Asia-Pacific)), moved, -- That the Bill be now read a third time and do pass.

Debate arose thereon.

The question was put on the motion and it was agreed to on division.

Accordingly, the Bill was read a third time and passed.

The Order was read for the consideration at report stage of Bill C-6, An Act to provide for an integrated system of land and water management in the Mackenzie Valley, to establish certain boards for that purpose and to make consequential amendments to other Acts, as reported by the Standing Committee on Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development with amendments.

PRIVATE MEMBERS' BUSINESS

At 5:30 p.m., pursuant to Standing Order 30(6), the House proceeded to the consideration of Private Members' Business.

The Order was read for the second reading and reference to the Standing Committee on Canadian Heritage of Bill C- 288, An Act to amend the Broadcasting Act (broadcasting policy).

Mr. Gallaway (Sarnia -- Lambton), seconded by Mr. Abbott (Kootenay -- Columbia), moved, -- That the Bill be now read a second time and referred to the Standing Committee on Canadian Heritage.
