MINUTES OF PROCEEDINGS

THURSDAY, JUNE 3, 1999
(Meeting No. 80)

The Standing Committee on Fisheries and Oceans met in camera at 9:05 a.m. this day, in Room 536, Wellington Building, the Chair, Charles Hubbard, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Yvan Bernier, Wayne Easter, Charles Hubbard, Nancy Karetak-Lindell, Gary Lunn, Bill Matthews, Lou Sekora, Paul Steckle.

Acting Members present: Ian Murray for Claude Drouin, Eugène Bellemare for Carmen Provenzano.

In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Alan Nixon, Research Officer.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee resumed consideration of a draft report on Sealing Issues.

It was agreed, - That the draft report on Seals be adopted as the Committee's Thirteenth Report to the House.

It was agreed, - That the title of the report be "Seals Report".

It was agreed, - That the report be printed in accordance with the policy established by the Board of Internal Economy.

It was agreed, - That pursuant to Standing Order 109, the Committee request that the Government table a comprehensive response.

At 11:10 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.

TUESDAY, JUNE 8, 1999

The Standing Committee on Fisheries and Oceans met in camera at 9:11 a.m. this day, in Room 536, Wellington Building, the Chair, Charles Hubbard, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Yvan Bernier, Claude Drouin, Wayne Easter, Charles Hubbard, Nancy Karetak-Lindell, Gary Lunn, Carmen Provenzano, Bill Matthews, Lou Sekora.

Acting Member present: Brent St. Denis for Paul Steckle.

In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Alan Nixon, Research Officer.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee resumed consideration of a draft report on Sealing Issues.

It was agreed, - That any dissenting opinions be sent to the Clerk by 5 o'clock p.m., Tuesday, June 8, 1999 and that such opinions be no longer than two pages 8 1/2 by 11 and that they be in both official languages.

It was agreed, - That the Chair be authorized to table the Report.

At 11:20 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
