The Standing Committee on Transport met at 3:32 o’clock p.m., this day, in Room 371, West Block, the Chair, Ray Bonin, presiding.
Members of the Committee present: Roy Bailey, Ray Bonin, Murray Calder, John Cannis, Bill Casey, Roy Cullen, Bev Desjarlais, Claude Drouin, Michel Guimond, Stan Keyes, Inky Mark, Paul Mercier, Lee Morrison and Carolyn Parrish.
Acting Members present: Joe Fontana for Gerry Byrne; Jerry Pickard for Ivan Grose.
In attendance: From the Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: John Christopher, Research Officer.
Appearing: The Honourable David Collenette, Minister of Transport.
Witnesses: From the Department of Transport: Margaret Bloodworth, Deputy Minister; Louis Ranger, Assistant Deputy Minister, Policy; Ron Jackson, Assistant Deputy Minister, Safety and Security; Ronald Sully, Assistant Deputy Minister, Programs and Divestiture.
The Order of Reference dated Wednesday, October 1, 1997, relating to the Main Estimates for the fiscal year ending March 31, 1998, being read as follows:
ORDERED - That Vote 15 under Privy Council; Votes 1, 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35 and 40 under Transport be referred to the Standing Committee on Transport.
The Chair called Vote 1.
The Minister made a statement and, with the other witnesses, answered questions.
At 5:16 o’clock p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
