MINUTES OF PROCEEDINGS

Meeting No. 47

Tuesday, February 9, 1999

The Standing Committee on Transport met in camera at 3:39 p.m. this day, in Room 269, West Block, the Chair, Ray Bonin, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Rob Anders, Gérard Asselin, Roy Bailey, Ray Bonin, Murray Calder, Bill Casey, Roy Cullen, Bev Desjarlais, Stan Dromisky, Claude Drouin, Michel Guimond, Ovid Jackson, Stan Keyes, Lee Morrison, Lou Sekora.

In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: John Christopher, Researcher.

The Committee resumed its discussion on future business.

It was agreed to discuss the competitiveness of Canada's Air Transportation System and related subjects from the list of the members requests on future business.

The researcher will prepare a document outlining the issues on air transportation for the next meeting to be held Tuesday, February 16, 1999.

It was moved, -- That the Committee review the findings in Chapter 25 of the Report of the Auditor General of Canada with respect to Transport Canada's investments in highways.

After debate, the question being put on the motion, it was negatived.

At 4:57 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
