The Standing Committee on Transport met at 3:34 p.m. this day, in Room 269, West Block, the Chair, Ray Bonin, presiding.
Members of the Committee present: Roy Bailey, Ray Bonin, Murray Calder, John Cannis, Bill Casey, Roy Cullen, Stan Dromisky, Claude Drouin, Michel Guimond, Ovid Jackson, Karen Kraft Sloan, Paul Mercier, Lou Sekora.
Acting Member present: Bill Blaikie for Bev Desjarlais.
Associate Member present: Rick Laliberté.
In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: John Christopher and Dan Shaw, Researchers.
Appearing: The Honourable David Collenette, Minister of Transport.
Witnesses: From the Department of Transport: Louis Ranger, Assistant Deputy Minister; Policy; David McGovern, Director, Passenger Rail Service Review.
In accordance with Standing Order 108(2), the Committee proceeded to the consideration of the Government Response to the Committee's Fourth Report: The Renaissance of Passenger Rail in Canada.
The Honourable David Collenette made an opening statement and, with Louis Ranger and David McGovern, answered questions.
It was agreed,--That the Committee meet in camera next Tuesday, October 27, 1998 at 3:30 p.m. to discuss its future business.
At 4:58 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
