Meeting No. 2

Tuesday, October 7, 1997


The Sub-Committee on Private Members’ Business, of the Standing Committee on Procedure and House Affairs, met at 11:03 o’clock a.m., this day, in Room 269, West Block, the Chair, Yvon Charbonneau (presiding).

Members of the Sub-Committee present: Bill Blaikie, Yvon Charbonneau, Madeleine Dalphond-Guiral, Norman Doyle, Ken Epp and Carolyn Parrish.

In attendance: From the Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Jamie Robertson, Research Officer.

Witnesses: From the House of Commons: Jake Hoeppner, Bernard Patry, Myron Thompson, Jim Abbott, Colleen Beaumier, Paul Crête, Dale Johnston, Yvon Godin, Diane St-Jacques, Jay Hill, Gurmant Grewal and Nelson Riis.

Pursuant to the order of reference, from the Standing Committee on Procedure and House Affairs, adopted on Monday, September 29, 1997, the Sub-Committee proceeded to select votable items from bills and motions whose order of precedence has been established on Tuesday, September 30, 1997.

The witnesses made a statement and answered questions.

At 11:47 o’clock a.m., the sitting is suspended. At 12:02 o'clock p.m. the sitting resumed.

At 12:52 o’clock p.m., the Sub-Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
