The Standing Committee on Public Accounts met at 3:33 p.m. this day, in Room 269, West Block, the Chair, John Williams, presiding.
Members of the Committee present: Lynn Myers, Gilles-A. Perron, Beth Phinney, Elsie Wayne, John Williams.
Acting Members present: Yvan Bernier for Serge Cardin; Gary Lunn for Philip Mayfield
In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Jean Dupuis, Research Officer.
Witnesses: From the Office of the Auditor General of Canada: L. Denis Desautels, Auditor General of Canada; John O'Brien, Principal, Audit Operations. From the Fisheries and Oceans: Larry Murray, Associate Deputy Minister, Department of Fisheries of Oceans Canada; Jacques Robichaud, Director General, Resource Management Directorate; Howard Powles, Acting Director, Fisheries Research Branch.
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(3)(e), the Committee proceeded to consider Chapter 4 (Fisheries and Oceans - Managing Atlantic Shellfish in a Sustainable Manner) of the April 1999 Report of the Auditor General of Canada.
Denis Desautels and Larry Murray made an opening statement and with the witnesses, answered questions.
At 5:25 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
