Thursday, May 6, 1999

The Standing Committee on Natural Resources and Government Operations met at 11:08 a.m. this day, in Room 705, La Promenade Building, the Chair, Brent St. Denis, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Réginald Bélair, Gerry Byrne, Roy Cullen, John Duncan, Tony Ianno, Marlene Jennings, Carolyn Parrish, Carmen Provenzano, Werner Schmidt and Brent St. Denis.

Pursuant to the Order of Reference of the House dated Monday, April 26, 1999, the Committee resumed consideration of Bill C-78, Public Sector Pension Investment Board Act.

Marlene Jennings moved - That the Committee approve a budget submission in the amount of $10,000.00 for witnesses in relation to Bill C-78.

John Williams moved, - That the motion be amended by adding the words "interim expenditures for" after the word for and before the word witnesses.

After debate the motion as amended was adopted.

John Williams raised a point of order questioning whether proper notice had be given for this meeting.

The Chair ruled that proper notice had been given. The Chair's decision was sustained by the Members.

The Committee proceeded to Clause-by-Clause consideration of the Bill.

Consideration of Clause 1 was postponed.
