Tuesday, February 16, 1999
The Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Trade met at 11:20 a.m. this day, in Room 308, West Block, the Vice-Chair, Colleen Beaumier, presiding.
Members of the Committee present: Sarkis Assadourian, Colleen Beaumier, Honourable Sheila Finestone, Bob Mills, Bernard Patry, Julian Reed, Benoît Sauvageau, Bob Speller, Daniel Turp.
In attendance: From the Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: James Lee, Research Officer.
Members of the delegation: From the Republic of Estonia: Toomas Savi, President of the Riigikogu (Parliament); Tiit Kabin, Deputy Chairman of the Constitutional Affairs Committee; Elki Nestor, Deputy Member of the Economic Affairs Committee; Talvi Marja, Deputy Chair of the Committee on Culture; Heiki Sibul, Secretary General; His Excellency Grigore-Kalev Stoicescu, Ambassador of the Republic of Estonia to Canada.
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee proceeded to meet with a parliamentary delegation of the Riigikogu from Estonia.
The Honourable Toomas Savi made an opening statement and, with Tiit Kabin, Elki Nestor, Talvi Marja and His Excellency Grigore-Kalev Stoicescu, answered questions.
At 12:10 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
