Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the committee on Friday, September 6, 2024, the committee resumed its study of passenger rail service - VIA Rail Canada Inc. incident on August 31, 2024.

Cedryk Coderre and Jennifer Murray made statements and, with Joel Kennedy, answered questions.

The committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to committee business.

Motion

Philip Lawrence moved, — Given reports in the media that Athabasca Chipewyan First Nation, Mikisew Cree First Nation and Fort Chipewyan Metis Nation were never told that the environment around a local Transport Canada operated dock was contaminated despite a report commissioned by the government in 2017 that found elevated levels of arsenic, nickel and hydrocarbons, the committee request all documents since 2017 relating to this dock from Transport Canada.

At 3:54 p.m., the meeting was suspended.

At 4:02 p.m., the meeting resumed.
