The Standing Committee on Natural Resources Invites Submissions for its Study of Bill C-49, An Act to Amend the Canada-Newfoundland and Labrador Atlantic Accord Implementation Act and the Canada-Nova Scotia Offshore Petroleum Resources Accord Implementation Act and to make consequential amendments to other Acts

Ottawa, December 21, 2023 -

On October 16, 2023, Bill C-49 was referred to the Standing Committee on Natural Resources (the committee). The committee plans to conduct its study of Bill C-49 in early 2024.

The committee invites individuals and organizations to submit written briefs related to this study. Briefs should be no more than 10 pages long and must be submitted to the committee no later than Friday, February 16, 2024 at 5:00 p.m. ET. For more information on how to submit a brief, please consult the Guide for submitting briefs to House of Commons Committees. Individuals and organizations that wish to testify as witnesses may also express their interest in doing so.

Written briefs, expressions of interest and any questions about the study should be directed to the committee clerk by email, at RNNR@parl.gc.ca.

The House of Commons Standing Committee on Natural Resources has 12 members. It is chaired by George Chahal (Calgary Skyview). The Vice-Chairs are Shannon Stubbs (Lakeland) and Mario Simard (Jonquière). The other members are John Aldag (Cloverdale—Langley City), Charlie Angus (Timmins—James Bay), Julie Dabrusin (Toronto—Danforth), Earl Dreeshen (Red Deer—Mountain View), Ted Falk (Provencher), Yvonne Jones (Labrador), Viviane Lapointe (Sudbury), Jeremy Patzer (Cypress Hills—Grasslands) and Fancesco Sobara (Vaughan—Woodbridge).
