NEWS RELEASE
House of Commons Standing Committee on Human Resources, Skills and Social Development and the Status of Persons with Disabilities Invites the Public to Submit Written Briefs for Its Study on Advancements in Home Building Technologies
Ottawa, October 11, 2024 -
The House of Commons Standing Committee on Human Resources, Skills and Social Development and the Status of Persons with Disabilities is undertaking a study on advancements in home building technologies, including new materials, construction methods, and energy-efficient systems. The study will examine barriers to these advancements, such as procurement systems and building codes while exploring policies for promoting innovation. It will also examine artificial intelligence’s role in optimizing design and construction management, improving energy efficiency and building methods.
The study follows a motion sponsored by Michael Coteau (Member of Parliament for Don Valley East) and adopted by the Committee on Monday, June 3, 2024.
The Committee invites members of the public to submit written briefs no longer than 10 pages (approximately 4,000 words) for consideration in the study. For more information on how to prepare a submission, please consult the Guide for Submitting Briefs to House of Commons Committees.
The deadline for the Committee to receive written briefs from the public is Friday, November 1, 2024, at 11:59 p.m. (ET). Briefs may be submitted electronically to the Committee Clerk at HUMA@parl.gc.ca or online through the Committee’s study page.
Canadians are welcome to follow the Committee on its website, where additional information is provided on its meetings (including past testimony), its ongoing work, and its membership.
