Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the committee on Thursday, January 20, 2022, the committee commenced its study of foreign ownership and corporate concentration of fishing licenses and quota.

Mark Waddell made a statement and, with Jennifer Mooney, Neil Davis and Doug Wentzell answered questions.

At 12:01 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 12:05 p.m., the sitting resumed.

Christina Burridge, Paul Kariya and Greg Pretty made statements and answered questions.

At 1:05 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 1:11 p.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

The committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to committee business.

ORDERED, — That the clerk of the committee, in consultation with the Chair, prepare a detailed budget submission respecting the committee's proposed travel to the Yukon, in relation to its study of the population sustainability of Pacific salmon stocks, for consideration by the committee.

ORDERED, — That the clerk of the committee, in consultation with the Chair, prepare a detailed budget submission respecting the committee's proposed travel to Vancouver, British Columbia, in relation to its study of illegal, unreported and unregulated fishing, for consideration by the committee.

It was agreed, — That, for the study of the ecosystem impacts and the management of pinniped populations, the members of the committee submit to the clerk their written instructions and recommendations for the drafting of a report no later than 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 11, 2023.

At 2:00 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
