At 6:48 p.m., the meeting resumed.

The witnesses made statements and answered questions.

Motion

Richard Martel moved, — Given that the Minister of Environment’s proposed decree on the province of Quebec will:

  1. eliminate at least 1400 jobs, according to analyses by Environment and Climate Change Canada;
  2. result in some Quebec communities being destroyed such as Sacré-Coeur, with the Mayor saying the village “will pretty much become a ghost town.”;
  3. make housing even more expensive, while the Province of Quebec is already in the middle of a housing crisis caused by this Liberal Government; and
  4. is a direct attack on Quebec's areas of jurisdiction.

Therefore, the committee reports to the House its opposition to Environment Minister Steven Guilbeault's emergency decree, and urges the Government to immediately cancel its plan to impose this on Quebec.

Debate arose thereon.

Motion

Adam van Koeverden moved, — That the debate be now adjourned.

The question was put on the motion and it was agreed to on the following recorded division:

NAYS: Michael Kram, Branden Leslie, Richard Martel, Dan Mazier — 4.

Questioning of the witnesses resumed.

At 7:56 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
