The committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to committee business.

Budgets

It was agreed, — That the proposed budget in the amount of $26,150.00, for the study of National Forum on the Media, be adopted.

It was agreed, — That the proposed budget in the amount of $17,000.00, for the study of Harms Caused to Children, Women, and Men by the Ease of Access to, and Online Viewing of, Illegal Sexually Explicit Material, be adopted.

It was agreed, — That the proposed budget in the amount of $8,750.00, for the study of Cuts Announced by Bell Canada Enterprises, be adopted.

At 3:41 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 3:47 p.m., the sitting resumed.

It was agreed, — That, in relation to the appearance of Bell executives that was originally scheduled for March 19th, 2024 related to their decision to fire 4800 people, that they have been unable to find time to appear, and given their second round of layoffs of an additional 400 jobs, the committee summons, pursuant to Standing Order 108(1)(a), Mirko Bibic, President and CEO of BCE Inc., to appear before the committee on Thursday, April 11th, 2024 to answer questions and discuss the announced cuts.
