Pursuant to the order of reference of Monday, May 16, 2022, the committee resumed its study of the Canada–People’s Republic of China relations.

The committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to committee business.

It was agreed, — That on Monday, December 11, 2023, notwithstanding the motion adopted by the committee on October 23, 2023 in relation to Canada’s freeze in government-led activity with the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank, Bob Pickard, former Director General of Communications at the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank appear for 60 minutes and officials from the Department of Finance appear for 90 minutes.

It was agreed, — That the Minister of Finance be invited to appear before the committee in January or February 2024 in relation to the matter of Canada’s freeze in government-led activity with the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank.

At 4:45 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 5:35 p.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

It was agreed, — That following the completion of meetings on the matter of Canada's Indo-Pacific Strategy, the committee hold one meeting to follow-up on the committee’s Second Interim Report entitled “Canada and Taiwan: A Strong Relationship in Turbulent Times".

It was agreed, — That the committee meet on the first Monday back from the holiday season adjournment.

At 6:03 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
