Pursuant to the order of reference of Saturday, April 11, 2020, and Tuesday, May 26, 2020, the committee resumed its study of the Canadian response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The witnesses made statements and answered questions.

Michelle Rempel Garner gave notice of the following motion:

That, pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Standing Committee on Industry, Science and Technology invite representatives from the Competition Bureau as well as Amazon.ca, to appear regarding reports of anti-competitive behaviour on the part of Amazon.

Motion

Jeremy Patzer moved, — That, as part of its study on the Canadian Response to the COVID-19 Pandemic, the Standing Committee on Industry, Science and Technology invite Daniel Therrien, Privacy Commissioner of Canada, to testify regarding the development and ongoing operation of the recently released contact tracing application.

Debate arose thereon.

Amendment

Nathaniel Erskine-Smith moved, — That the motion be amended by replacing the words “contact tracing" with the words "exposure notification".

After debate, the question was put on the amendment of Nathaniel Erskine-Smith and it was agreed to on the following recorded division:

The question was put on the motion, as amended, and it was agreed to on the following recorded division:
