Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Thursday, February 25, 2016, the Committee resumed its study of Canada and the Defence of North America.

Jeffery Hutchison and Mario Pelletier made statements and answered questions.

At 12:18 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 12:24 p.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.

It was agreed, — That the Third Report from the Subcommittee on Agenda and Procedure, which read as follows, be concurred in:

Your Subcommittee met on Tuesday, December 6, 2016, to consider the business of the Committee and agreed to make the following recommendations:

  1. That, pursuant to Standing Order 111(1), the Committee invite Jean-Pierre Plouffe, Commissioner of the Communications Security Establishment, to appear before the Committee in relation to his Order in Council Appointment.
  2. That, in relation to the study of Canada and the Defence of North America, the Committee travel to Washington D.C., United States of America, preferably during the week of March 5, 2017.
  3. That, in relation to the study of Canada and the Defence of North America, no more than four (4) other meetings be dedicated to naval readiness.
  4. That, in relation to the study of Force Protection, a draft report be prepared for consideration at a future meeting of the Committee.

It was agreed, — That the Committee do now adjourn.

At 12:56 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
