Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on April 12, 2016, the Committee resumed its study of suicide among Indigenous peoples and communities.

Leo Ashamock (Loone) and Greta Visitor made statements and answered questions.

At 4:37 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 4:42 p.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.

It was agreed, — That, pursuant to Standing Order 108 (2), the Committee undertake a study on the subject matter of Bill S-3, An Act to amend the Indian Act (elimination of sex-based inequities in registration); and that, as part of the study, the committee hear from witnesses including the Minister of Indigenous and Northern Affairs, officials from the department and other relevant groups or individuals.

It was agreed, — That, in relation to the study of the subject matter of Bill S-3, An Act to amend the Indian Act (elimination of sex-based inequities in registration), Members of the Committee submit their list of proposed witnesses to the clerk no later than Friday, November 4, 2016.

It was agreed, — That, in relation to the study of the subject matter of Bill S-3, An Act to amend the Indian Act (elimination of sex-based inequities in registration), the Committee’s meeting on Monday, November 14, 2016, be dedicated to the planning of the study.

At 5:14 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
