Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on April 12, 2016, the Committee resumed its study of suicide among Indigenous peoples and communities.

Marion Crowe, Calvin Morrisseau, Lisa Bourque Bearskin, by videoconference from Kamloops, British Columbia and Lindsay Jones, by videoconference from Kamloops, British Columbia, made statements and answered questions.

At 4:43 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 4:50 p.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.

It was agreed, — That, in relation to the study of suicide among Indigenous peoples and communities, the Clerk and analysts, in consultation with the Chair, prepare a news release respecting the e-consultation targeted to mental health professionals.

It was agreed, — That, notwithstanding the motion adopted by the Committee on Thursday, February 4, 2016, one paper copy of the in camera evidence from the Committee's meeting of Monday, September 19, 2016, be provided to the Honourable Murray Sinclair, Senator.

It was agreed, — That, in relation to the study of the terms of reference of the National Inquiry Into Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls, the Minister of Indigenous and Northern Affairs and, the Honourable Marion Buller, Chief Commissioner, be invited for the first hour; and that the Native Women's Association of Canada, Pauktuutit and the Coalition on Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls be invited for the second hour.

It was agreed, — That, notwithstanding any routine motion, during meetings of the Committee outside of Ottawa, the Chair shall not entertain any substantive motion.

At 5:35 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
