Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee proceeded to a briefing on Reports of the Commissioner of the Environment and Sustainable Development - Fall 2016.

Catherine Blewett made a statement and, with Kevin Stringer, Mario Pelletier, Jean Landry and Marc Clemens, answered questions.

On motion of Fin Donnelly, it was agreed, — That the department and agencies of Fisheries and Oceans Canada, and the Canadian Coast Guard, that have been subject to a performance audit by the Office of the Auditor General of Canada provide a detailed action plan to address the audit recommendations which have been agreed to, including specific actions, timelines for their completion, and responsible individuals, to the Committee and to the Office of the Auditor General of Canada, within six months of the audit being tabled in the House of Commons;

That the department and agencies that are invited to appear before the Committee to discuss the findings of an audit should, when feasible, provide an action plan to the Committee prior to the hearing; and

That departmental action plans and progress reports received by the Committee be published on the Committee’s website.

At 9:59 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 10:01 a.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

It was agreed, — That the Committee be authorized to purchase a gift to be presented to the visiting delegate from Scotland on Tuesday, April 6, 2017.

At 10:03 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
