The Standing Committee on Government Operations and Estimates met in camera at 3:31 p.m. this day, in Room 253-D, Centre Block, the Chair, Pierre-Luc Dusseault, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Hon. Diane Ablonczy, Denis Blanchette, Hon. Gerry Byrne, Hon. Ron Cannan, Anne-Marie Day, Pierre-Luc Dusseault, Ed Komarnicki, Hon. Gordon O'Connor, Bernard Trottier and Dave Van Kesteren.

 

Acting Members present: Russ Hiebert for Jay Aspin and Jasbir Sandhu for Pat Martin.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Lindsay McGlashan, Analyst; Alex Smith, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Treasury Board Secretariat: Derek Armstrong, Director, Expenditure Analysis; Bill Matthews, Assistant Secretary, Expenditure Management Sector; George Samiotis, Director, Expenditure Management Sector.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(3)(c)(vii) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Thursday, November 7, 2013, the Committee proceeded to a briefing on the study conducted during the First Session of the 41st Parliament and entitled: “Review of the Process for Considering the Estimates and Supply”.
 

At 4:32 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 4:35 p.m., the sitting resumed in public.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(3)(c)(vii) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Thursday, November 7, 2013, the Committee resumed its follow-up of the study conducted during the First Session of the 41st Parliament and entitled: “Review of the Process for Considering the Estimates and Supply”.
 

Bill Matthews and Derek Armstrong made statements and, with the other witness, answered questions.

 

At 5:23 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 5:25 p.m., the sitting resumed.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

It was agreed, — That the appearance of the Canada Lands Company, Downsview Park and the Old Port of Montréal Corporation be postponed until early 2014.

 

It was agreed, — That the Royal Canadian Mint be invited to appear on Thursday, December 5, 2013, regarding its mandate and activities.

 

At 5:31 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
