The Standing Committee on Human Resources, Skills and Social Development and the Status of Persons with Disabilities met at 3:31 p.m. this day, in Room 228, The Valour Building, the Chair, Phil McColeman, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Scott Armstrong, Ray Boughen, Brad Butt, Rodger Cuzner, Jim Eglinski, Sadia Groguhé, Colin Mayes and Phil McColeman.

 

Acting Members present: Niki Ashton for Marie-Claude Morin, Costas Menegakis for Scott Armstrong and Ève Péclet for Jinny Jogindera Sims.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Caroline Quesnel, Analyst; Shauna Troniak, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Fédération des communautés francophones et acadienne du Canada: Marie-France Kenny, President; Diane Côté, Director, Community and Government Liaison. The Honourable William G. Davis Centre for Families: Sharon Mayne Devine, Chief Executive Officer; Rob El-Sayed, Manager, Fund Development and Communications. As individuals: Meghan Joy, Doctor of Philosophy Candidate, Ryerson University; John Shields, Professor, Ryerson University, Department of Politics and Public Administration.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Thursday, February 5, 2015, the Committee resumed its study on exploring the potential of social finance in Canada.
 

Sharon Mayne Devine and Marie-France Kenny made statements and, with Diane Côté, answered questions.

 

At 4:32 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 4:37 p.m., the sitting resumed.

 

Meghan Joy and John Shields by videoconference from Toronto, Ontario made statements and answered questions.

 

At 5:29 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
