The Standing Committee on Health met in a televised session at 11:02 a.m. this day, in Room 237-C, Centre Block, the Chair, Ben Lobb, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Eve Adams, Libby Davies, Hon. Hedy Fry, Wladyslaw Lizon, Ben Lobb, James Lunney, Dany Morin, David Wilks and Terence Young.

 

Acting Members present: Jean Crowder for Libby Davies, Matthew Kellway for Claude Gravelle and Hon. Geoff Regan for Hon. Hedy Fry.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Havi Echenberg, Analyst; Marlisa Tiedemann, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Department of Health: Hilary Geller, Assistant Deputy Minister, Healthy Environments and Consumer Safety Branch; Suzy McDonald, Associate Director General, Controlled Substances and Tobacco Directorate, Healthy Environments and Consumer Safety Branch; John Patrick Stewart, Executive Medical Director, Therapeutic Products Directorate, Health Products and Food Branch; Peter Brander, Acting Senior Director General, Regions and Programs Bureau.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Tuesday, October 7, 2014, the Committee commenced its study of e-cigarettes.
 

Hilary Geller made a statement and, with the other witnesses, answered questions.

 

At 12:03 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 12:06 p.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

It was agreed, — That the draft hearing plan for the study of e-cigarettes, as amended, be adopted.

 

At 12:34 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
